Great food and Root Beer! Try their Plan 9 Frites - Simply delicious - crispy fries and the gravy is so mouthwatering. Their Fancy Pants Burger is very flavorful. Service is terrific also!

Pretty good burgers and lots of craft beer. Would have gotten another star if the service had been better. I had the Fancy Pants burger which was good but way over cooked. The side salad I had with it was really good too.

Great for quick bites and drinks (usually)... Was my favorite place to go to when I used to live in Escondido. Great industrial feel with lots of open seating to socialize with friends and family!

OMG get the fancy pants burger...yes you read that correctly, with the garlic fries and the house made draft root beer. This hidden city gem will become our go to place!

I visited this place last Monday for lunch around noon. I found this place by accident looking for a neighboring bar... ..not sure why Google maps didn't list it as a nearby bar when I searched for beer restaurants. I was EXTREMELY PLEASED with the service and menu options. Excellent beer selection with fair pricing on all. Lunch specials and regular menu offered better choices than typical bar fare. The QUALITY was something for them to be proud of. I also noticed how CLEAN the place was throughout. I ordered the sausage plate with homemade kraut and really delicious homemade mustard. The bartender / server, Chelsea, was perfect. If I even looked up she checked in me. Her timing and attention was incredible. It wasn't too busy but she cut up fruit and talked to patrons and did not play on her cell phone ever. THANK YOU!! At one point she had to help a delivery guy and the chef came out and greeted guests in a warm friendly way. I will absolutely come here again!!! Highly recommend 😁

They have good beers. I wasnt a fan of the food though. Some stuff is good. All and all a nice place to stop during cruising grand.

Food and drinks are excellent and the staff is great. They also have lots of games for the kids.

We walk here often and know the place well. It is in an unassuming location among other downtown Escondido businesses, and offers open-air dining almost every day. They have a few picnic tables on the sidewalk and welcome your well-behaved dog. The theme inside is of B-grade or lower SciFi movies, often with one playing on the TV above the"Walken" cooler. They rotate taps constantly, but not as fast as their weekly burger special. This is the best burger in San Diego County - sorry Hodad's and others. Friendly staff always.

Stopped by for a couple quick tasters, and found the beers interesting and tasty. Staff were enthusiastic and good humored, which made sitting at the bar fun. It's also very cool they have a play area for young children (see picture).

Fun place to hang out. The staff is very tolerant of large group gatherings. Awesome selection of both beer and food items. A little on the pricey side if you're ordering food, but the quality is worth it.

Good food and nice atmosphere. My only complaint was the service and timing of the food. The servers were pleasant, but rarely come to check on you (you have to flag them down). It took about 45 minutes for our food to come out, and 15 minutes to get our drinks (1 glass of wine, and 1 beer).

Granted we went on a busy night (cruising grand) the food and tap list is amazing. The service is relatively quick to help with our request, and the vibe is super cool. Our food took extremely long though. Even for a busy night, I figured that 50 minutes might be stretching the limits. If it wasn’t for their good tap list, I think we would of left sooner. Maybe coming back during a non busy night might help. Either way, I recommend this place for a good night out.

A great local gastro-pub with a large selection of beers. The staff is courteous and attentive and the food is excellent. There is a corner play area for children 2+ and lots of activities to keep their attention while you enjoy your meal.

Tried a new place and a new beer today for lunch. This alehouse is named after a campy 50's space / horror movie and one of the actors from the movie donated a bunch of memorabilia including an original script to the place. The script was turned into wall paper in the restrooms. Great food, good beer selection. Highly recomended. Also they have campy horror movies on repeat on one of the TVs. Very cool.

Love the concept! Plan 9 the movie is an amazing train wreck of a film and you can read the whole screenplay on the bathroom walls.Food was unique enough to be interesting and decent in terms of flavor. I ordered the burger with the macerated pear. Pretty good! Great beer selection too! The service was friendly and knowledgeable. It took a very long time for our food, but it was a busy holiday, so that pretty much to be expected anywhere.

Delicious food! Had the smokey cheese burger.. amazing! Super spicy! The garlic fries were hot and well seasoned without being over done with garlic. Their ketchup and ranch tastes homemade. Was a great meal for an evening night out. Would go back to try the burger with pears on it. Lastly, my friends and I spoke to one of the owners. He was a sipwe friendly guy. We had a great experience!

I really like this place. Very good food and their beer selection is excellent (if you are into beer). There is always something going on here and they always have a classic sci-fi/horror b-movie playing (note the name of this place). Very good staff and the owners are always on site. Great place!

They would only be better if it was also in Orange County. All of the food items our party ordered were uniquely delicious

Superb atmosphere and super attentive service. The meals were crisp and delightful. Will surely recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Reasonable rates and big portions. Great job.

The food here is amazing and drink selection is abundant and probably the best in Escondido but I have not had great food service the past 4 times I've visited. Servers are very nice and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu but in my experience, they mess up your food order. I've gotten items forgotten and once my entire order forgotten entirely and waited over an hour until servers realized. It wasn't busy the times my order was messed up or forgotten. I would say if you have some time to hang out this place is in the heart of downtown Escondido and has delicious food and lots of different drinks to try but you may have to be a bit patient.

Beer selection is always on point, food is delicious, pet friendly patio and kid friendly area with toys so they aren't bored 😅 I love supporting local businesses and Plan 9 makes it easy to spend my money 😂

Best black bean burger in SD and I will legit think about those tots days and weeks after. Also, the staff is wonderful and I love that everything is sourced locally. Beer, beef, and veggies.

Plan 9 has a good selection of food for vegetarians and an extensive beer list. I particularly enjoy their mac and cheese. The atmosphere is relaxed and there are dog friendly tables in front. Fun place to relax and hang out.

Hands down, one of the best mac and cheese I have had paired with a delicious stout.

Excellent staff, accommodating with larger groups even on event days. Very friendly, great place to go if you have kids or friendly dogs. Plus only five minutes walk to Filippis pizza, best pizza joint in town!

Friendly service, nice place, they even have a small play area for the kiddos. My brother and I had wings and beer. The wings were big, juicy and crispy!! We had the BBQ and the mustard sauced wings. Most importantly The beer was good and cold. They have a nice selection.

They have cider! People at my table said the sausage was good. Acoustics could be better. Nice staff.

Staff was friendly, order taken and received in a timely fashion, and food was delicious. ordered the pretzel sticks with beer cheese; the pretzels were good size and moist, and the beer cheese had a good taste and consistency. ordered the monster mac attack with broccoli; cheese sauce was thick and creamy, and had a good amount of broccoli. ordered the root beer they make and it was refreshing and not too sugary. overall great 1st experience!

The food here is insane! The atmosphere is a fun edgy vibe. They have a couple of event nights that are fun too!

We visited on a Sunday afternoon. After seeing all the stellar reviews, perhaps our experience was just a fluke. That said, the food took an exceptionally long amount of time to come out. When it did, the majority of it was overcooked. The brussels sprouts were burnt so you could barely taste anything else. The sausage in the mac and cheese was too well done. Their fries with gravy on it was okay while it was warm, but quickly cooled becoming not so good. Perhaps we hit them on an off day, but I wouldn't go here for food again.

perfect spot! amazing brews and especially food. everything is DELICIOUS! amazing service and great atmosphere . from kids to college students to parents, everyone will enjoy this place! i’m from fort collins, co (napa valley of craft beer) and i can say this brewery could hang with our breweries! will be back!!

Needs faster service, the kitchen was slow.. it took about 40 minutes for me to get chips and guac and about 45 for Mac n cheese.. our server came to see us once during that time and once after we got our food.. I understand Saturday nights are busy but wow.. won't be back on a Saturday
